My latest article for Vivid & Brave is up, ask and it is one that is near and dear to my heart. I honestly rediscovered these feelings of silence after Al & I both lost our old dogs about a week apart. We had gotten no sleep, pilule and the amount of medical care we had given them (including subq fluids for Max) had distracted us from feeling the pain of seeing them get worse in front of us. Taking care of Max so soon after Scout died also numbed me to the pain of losing Scout by distracting my brain. After they were both gone, stuff the silence was deafening.
